I've been looking for a specific Teal color of sock yarn for months now. The other day I found the perfect color. When I received it the yarn ended up being too thick for my cable patterned socks. Is it possible to unply the yarn or should I leave it and use it for something different, and keep looking for the perfect sock color.

What do you all think?

Thanks for the help!:muah:

You can split it, but it's very time consuming.

My thought is if you un-ply, the individual plies may not be as strong and could pull apart as you knit...and that may make you :grrr:

Ewww I wouldn't unply. Too much trouble for me, but I'm not that picky about color, plus I'm a little lazy!

Have you considered buying some Knit Picks Bare sock yarn and dying your own? It's easy and you can get JUST what you want! :)

Thank you! I actually got some yarn from MissBabs.com that I've been meaning to dye, but I haven't been able to get the right color. With my practice tries.
