I'm thinking about making this blanket for a gift...http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/60607A.html. I don't especially want to use the Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick yarn though. It has so much acrylic in it, I'm worried that it will pill very badly, very quickly. Does anyone have any suggestions for a substitution yarn or does anyone have any experience knitting with the Thick and Quick? Thanks for everyone's help!

I haven't used Thick and Quick, but I've used Woolease worsted and haven't found it to pill. Generally, wools pill more than acrylic blends.

Plymouth Encore has a chunky weight, and that is a bit softer than Woolease yet also machine washable.

You might want to look at www.yarndex.com for a list of yarns the same weight as the Thick and Quick.

HEY!!! I plan on making something inspired by that blanket too! I have a bag of thick and quick sitting in a bag upstairs!

I haven't used it before so I don't have any recommendations or comments. sorry.

I'm using the chenille thick and quick to make my girl a sweater. she picked it out. it isn't the worst yarn out there, but it isn't my favorite by a long shot. I find it drys out my skin on my hands, and I don't like frogging it. It's fairly inexpensive so you could buy one and swatch it to see what you think.

I second the suggestion for the Plymouth bulky- They have a high acrylic content too, but it doesn't bother me as much.
