just wanted to post and say that I did actually amnage to knit some lace in July. I started the modified market bag (http://www.sabrinajl.com/cgi/wp/?page_id=46) Monday morning, and finished it that evening. I don't have a pic yet, but I will post it as soon as I take it. Sandy has seen it though. I loved knitting this bag (thanks Sabrina) and it is just the right size.

Thanks, you guys! Sandy, I think I have RSSS... reversed second sock syndrome. I always think the second sock is going to be perfect, when I am working on the first one. I usually can't wait to start them so I can "get it right". As if the second one is ever perfect! :roflhard:

well, it was so fun seeing her open her present! (she also got a huggable hedgehog from me too) she hugged and twirled with her hedgehog, and squeeled when she opened her socks :teehee: she made her mom put them on her and didn't take them off until she went back out to play in the rented bounce house. she handed them to me and told me to watch them, so no one would take them :shifty:
she wouldn't however, put them on just so i could take a good picture.. so maby next weekend when i see her again

Alrighty then. I have actually had this KAL and my very first lace anything completed for a while, but it still had to be blocked before taking pictures. Guess what!!!! It's blocking now! :woot:The colors are pretty true despite that ratty old pink towel it's pinned down to.

Yarn: 2 skeins of Lion Brand Micro Spun Sport in "Cherry Red"

Though tedious at times, this was a good Kal for me to have participated in and I have such a beautiful item for gifting too!!!

marni, how did you like working with that yarn? I bought some and it gave me horrible frustrations! What knid of needles did you use?

I had no problems with it. There was one stitch that would constantly untwist when knitted (don't remember which now) but it was only in the pattern repeat maybe once or twice so I paid extra attention to that one while knitting it; I couldn't completely eliminate the untwisting effect, but was able to tame it somewhat. Otherwise I didn't mind it at all. Flowed good at a semi slow snail pace to start and after I got the hang of the pattern the yarn flow was able to keep up. No snags or knots. I was happy with the choice to use it for this project.

I used #3 10" straight needles made of a very pliable plastic/resin (?). These were my grandmother's needles and there isn't a manufacturer name on them. Probably an old version of Bates with a silver end that is much more "mushroom" cap looking than the other Bates needles I have though. They are just sticky enough to keep the yarn in place without too much drag. I couldn't even imagine knitting that lace pattern for the first time using a slippery needle.
