View Full Version : can you use a variegated yarn for a basketweave pattern?

I have never knitted with basketweave before and am wondering if the pattern shows up as nicely using a variegated yarn. Would you recommend using a solid color instead? Thanks for the input!

I made 2 basketweave scarves, both in a twisted 4 color yarn (not variegated). the stitch pattern shows up if you look real close. honestly, I think it's best in a solid.
this was made with Filatura di Crosa 'Zara':
this is the yarn I used for the other one (Karabella Aurora Melange). unfortunately, I can't find a pic of the finished scarf.

Thanks you so much for the pictures. That answers my question. I appreciate your input. Your work was very nice, but I think I'll find a pretty solid color yarn.

I know you already made your decision (and I agree, a solid color is better :)), but I found a closeup pic on my home computer (I was at work when I posted earlier) that I wanted to show you of the Zara:
