View Full Version : FO: A single Argyle sock!!!
08-26-2007, 02:13 AM
Hey everyone! I know that I'm probably supposed to wait to finish a pair before posting some socks as an FO, but this was my first intarsia and it was so much work that I think a single sock should deserve its own post! It's been extremely time-consuming and labor intensive. I'm back at school now so it was a little more slow-going than expected, but I am in LOVE with the results! Totally worth it! Please let me know what you think!!!

I love it! :inlove: It's beautiful! Did you use a pattern for the argyle work? Don't fall prey to the dreaded "Second Sock Syndrome", that lovely little sock there needs a mate!

Oh, Rachel, that is awesome!! I just love it. It looks so professional. And the colors are perfect. Now I'm going to have to try a pair for my son. Where did you find the pattern?

Rachel, that's incredible! How did you do the purple/green lines? Were they intarsia, too?
08-26-2007, 11:35 AM
It looks to me like the lines were done with Swiss Darning, but I could be wrong. They look great, Rachel!

:notworthy: Wow - that is beyond incredible !!

Hey everyone! It's a vintage sock pattern that the knitting teacher at my LYS gave me, so I'm not sure where you can get it. I know that she made the socks from this pattern over 25 years ago, and I'm pretty sure it's a good deal older than that. I did the purple and green lines with dupliate stitching. The pattern had directions for doing all the lines with intarsia, but it also said that you could duplicate stitch them on afterwards, and I'm glad I chose that option. :) I just picked some random colors - I did the main colors all looking complementary to each other, but for the lines I decided I needed to be true to argyle and use a little bit of garish, semi-hideous colors for the lines :) It's a ton of work but I'm really pleased with the results. Thanks for the great feedback, everybody! I've come a long way, and it's thanks to all of you guys!!! Have a great day.
