I'm looking for a wrap pattern similar to this one (http://knitpicks.com/Garter+Stitch+Wrap_PD30529223.html). Maybe not quite so plain, but I really like the size and shape of it. Kinda looks like a poncho, but open. I already checked KPC, but didn't find what i was looking for.

If you scroll to the bottom of the KP page you linked to (http://knitpicks.com/Garter+Stitch+Wrap_PD30529223.html), it says that the pattern is in "Scarf Style". If you haven't seen this book, there are a lot of great patterns in it!

And even though the title will lead you to think only of scarves, a lot of them are more like shawls. You can also enlarge a scarf pattern to make a wrap or shawl.

I did see what book it was in, but as my husband is unsure if he's going to have a job in 7 months (he's in the navy and considering not re-enlisting), I've put a hold on buying anything unnecessary. And I can't find it at the library (or any libraries in the area).

Make a request through interlibrary loan. There should be a library in your county or the next one that has it.
