I have a Michaels and a Hobby Lobby, neither of which seem to carry a very good selection of anything other than acrylic yarn. They do have some Lion Brand wool, but it mostly is acrylic stuff.

So please share some links to where you buy online.

www.knitpicks.com, www.yarn.com, www.fullthreadahead.com, www.littleknits.com, www.sarahsyarns.com Those are all places I shop. I've had nothing but good experiences with all of them.

Knitpicks and Etsy shops. I can get some lovely handspun hand dyed yarns on Etsy for about the same price I can purchase them at my LYS. And since I can use my paypal account at Etsy, all my Pinecone Research "earnings" go to support my habit, uh, I mean interest.

There's elann.com, though I've never bought from them.

I've bought from Knit Picks (http://www.knitpicks.com/)and from Herschnerr's (http://www.herrschners.com/default.aspx?pc=503014). Herschnerr's has varied selection. You'll find anything from Red Heart to Noro.

I've had very good experiences with both places.

I have also had a good experience with halcyonyarn.com. And for the most fun and the best experience try woolgirl.com. She has a fun blog, runs contests for yarn and packages her yarns in tissue paper with little gifts inside.

I have bought from Knitpicks.com and discountbrandnameyarn.com Knitpicks has excellent phone customer service if you are unable to get your selections to go through online, which a lot of people have a problem with. I actually prefer to talk to the knitpicks people on the phone, they helped me figure out how much sock yarn to order for a pair so I would have enough. :yay:

I have had great service from ELann, at most 3 business days turnaround. Good prices, never been disappointed with anything I bought.

So far, I've done:

elann.com
knitpicks.com
ebay.com (that was one of my best yarn purchases, actually--3 skeins of noro kureyon for less than $20, with s/h)
knithappens.net

I only had very slight problems with one company (knitpicks.com) and that was only due to the fact that the color I received was not even close to the one I thought I was ordering. They're return policy is a little picky, so I just kept the yarn instead of going through all the trouble.

elann.com was absolutely wonderful. Very fast shipping, gorgeous yarn.

I love KnitPicks! It helps a lot that they have a lot of patterns and yarn that would go perfectly with it. I am currently only looking at free paterns but the selection is great and the yarn is greatly priced. I've looked at other sites but I feel extremely comfortable with the way the website is designed and the customer service. thats just my personal preference.

Hello all... I am putting together a list of stores (both online and retail) that sell yarn and am trying to put in additional info such as average pricing and discount options. For those interested, hop on over to the other thread right here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/forum/showthread.php?p=979047#post979047).

Comments, suggestions and thanks are always appreciated! :happydance:
