I just talked to my adviser and he suggested I "write about what I know" and I'm writing about informal learning communities (I'm i nthe school of Education -Ed for adults not k-12) and he said "your in that stichin and bitchin thing right? Write about that and how feminism informs the learning that takes place there." YIPPPEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! I can finally write what I want!!! OK now I have to go find literature.

OMG, that's awesome! I'm so jealous. I don't think my accounting professor would let me write a paper on knitting. So sad. ;)

 That is just wonderful :cheering: I am writing my dissertation too and unfurtunately I couldn't include any knitting. My field is theatre research and I was kind of pushed to pick a topic in a day or two. I had to think quick and not very creative. But when you publish your dissertation I sure want to read it!!!!:inlove:

Actually you just might. When I get to the reserach phase I might want some participants in questionaire (DOH! Doctoral student who can't spell) on your experiences with knitting.

My whole focus is education. i want to argue alternative learning theories/ small learning communities, collaborative learning/ empowerment and feminist pedagogy. I'll probably use the womens center stitch n bitch as a case study.

SO if anyone comes across any scholarly writting about knitting, let me know.

Probably just qual. I don't know what I would for quant. How many numbers of folks who knit? Which proves...what? I think I'll be focusing on the experienes of folks who knit and what it does for them, how it relates to learning, stuff like that.

What I find fascinating about the online knitting community is the mixing of age groups. It facilitates cross-demographic exchange.

One of my good friends wrote here MA thesis on the new DIY. Not just knitting but everything. It's definately a great topic!
