Please send good thoughts and prayers my way. Tomorrow morning (Thursday) I am having total left hip replacement surgery. I'm only 53 but I have arthritis there. I haven't had surgery since I was SEVEN years old when I had my tonsils removed. So I'll be gone from the boards for awhile.:aww:

Best of luck to you!! My husband had a hip replacement in July--under different circumstances, and I can't push the importance of doing your physical therapy afterwards--at the office and at home. My cousin's husband had both hips replaced and worked hard and now is as mobile and pain-free as ever.

My husband didn't, and is still limping and wincing.

I will pray for you, QuiltLady. And ditto on the rehab thing. My daughter did a grueling round of PT after her knee surgery, and she's back to playing soccer again. It's so worth the effort.

Look forward to having you back soon!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!! Best wishes for a SPEEDY RECOVERY. Remember, don't be shy about asking for PAIN MEDICAITON, that is what it is there for. You will heal more quickly and better if you keep your pain under control.

I'm your age and recently found out that bilateral knee replacements are in MY future (UGH). But luckily I can put it off for a bit.

It is just wonderful what they can do now!!!!

Good luck and prayers for a speedy recovery!

I 3rd or 4th the PT. My Mom had her right hip replaced about a year ago and because she did well and worked hard at her PT, she was able to get her left knee replaced a short 3 months later.

Best wishes for the hip replacement. My aunt had it done in her late 60s and loved the knitting time until PT started. Then she figured out how to knit while doing PT. She got more done during that 3 month period then any other that year.

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. My hips is IN. I've been walking very well using crutches. I dont' waddle from side to side anymore like I was with the old hip. Now I'm walking straight!! :woohoo:
I have a physical therapist coming to my home three days a week for the next two weeks. I am doing the exercises she shows me. I want to build up the thigh muscles again etc.
I haven't picked up my knitting yet but I'm sure I will next week when my dh goes back to work after taking such wonderful care of me.:knitting:
