After my roommate gave me a crash course in knitting and I learned a few techniques at KnittingHelp.com, I made this rendition of Lion Brand's BasketWeave Scarf (found HERE (http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kcashmere-scarf.html)).

I used a size 8 needle and just Caron Simply Soft in Grey Heather (wasn't going to spend a fortune in case I totally screwed it up!) Not too shabby for a first project!

I can't wait to show you guys what else I've been working on! I've never been so excited about my new hobby. :yay:

What a lovely scarf! Basketweave isn't that easy. I tend to get holes between the squares. I think yours looks more even and cozier than the one on the pattern. Good job. Can't wait to see what you make next.

Pam, the holes happened a few times for me. I found myself unraveling plenty of times to redo it. I'm an insane perfectionist! I'm afraid that's going to drive me crazy eventually as I knit more. :)

You did a great job! I found, when trying a basket weave stitch out, that if you twist that first stitch that trys to leave a hole, it won't be able to.

Get out! If that's your first project - you have a great knitting future ahead of you. My first project was a pen wipe - this means small lump of knitting that it no good for anything... mind you I was 5. Very nice scarf and very even beautiful work. Clever you....
