I decided this winter that, since my knitting skills are getting better, I would knit up some hats for my girls. I just completed these this past week. It was my first time doing hats and after getting the hang of the DPN's it was a piece of cake!

The yarn is from KnitPicks and is there Shine Worsted in Blush and Shine Sport in Crocus (both a dream to work with). I used size 6 needles for my oldest daughters hat and size 5 needles for my youngest. Pattern is from HeadHuggers.org and is their Lace-Edged Womans Hat (http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt18.htm). As soon as my other order arrives from KnitPicks, I'm going to make myself the same hat.

My girls love their hats however, the only thing that I'm not to fond of is the peak at the top. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I followed the pattern exactly for the decreases on both hats and they both have it.

Very, very nice hats and they look very cute on your daughters. I think to get rid of the peak you need to decrease a little faster at the top.

The colors you selected look amazing in that lace pattern.

I agree w/ the others.. I usually decrease one row, knit one row, and continue.. and you can even 'decrease' two rows instead of the one knit row- if you can tell it's not decreasing fast enough- you just need to make sure that the HAT part is long enough.. before you start the rapid decreasing.

:cheering: I absolutely  the pattern and I'm going to make myself the same hat as soon as my order arrives from KnitPicks. Plus my Mom wants one. Very easy pattern and works up quickly. Got these 2 hats done in a matter of 3 days (and I'm a slow knitter).

Thank you everyone for the very nice compliments! On both the hats and my girls.

Thank you too for the tip on decreasing. I followed the pattern exactly and decreased one row and knit one row. I think I'll just do that until I reach a certain point then just straight decreasing.
