I'm giving this shawl to my neighbor who is having knee surgery today. I'm hoping it will keep her shoulders warm and happy while she sits around recovering. but I have a dilemma.
here's the shawl:

I want to put a shell edging on it. do I use the SAME color?

or do I edge it in this multi, which has the same green in it, but also pink and tan.

#2

I tend to be really conservative so I would pick #1, but I originally bought #2 for the edging.

HELP!!!

I'd use the same color. But that's just me. And also, if you're running short on time, you could leave it, as it does look really pretty just the way it is.

I agree, it looks great as is but if you want to do the edging, I'd use the solid color. (By the way, it is really beautiful!!)

thanks everyone- I went with the green- and you all were right- worked very nicely.

I took it to my friend right when she got home from the surgery, before taking the painkillers- and she was very pleased and put it on right away. yay!

I appreciate all the advice- MKZ

MaryKZ, your shawl is so lovely. I know it was a comfort and blessing to your neighbor after surgery. Can you share the pattern? And did you take a photo with the edging? I'd love to see it. I like Bernat Satin a lot, but our stores only carry pastel baby colors. Both the green and verigated are really pretty.

Thank you!!
I'll find it tomorrow- it is the pattern on the ball band of the satin sport! Really easy- one setup row, one row of shells. Thanks so much for your kind words! it used a "g" hook, so it went fairly fast. and you start with the longest edge of the triangle and decrease all the way, so it doesn't feel endless.

I didn't photo the edging, jus tthe same 5dc shell all the way around, I was in a hurry to get it over to her house, lol.... nothing like a deadline!!

Thanks so much everyone!

Your shawl is so gorgeous:inlove: --what a blessing to your friend! I second PamJ's request to please share the pattern if you get the chance, if you don't mind.

One other question--where can you find that yarn? I've never seen Bernat Satin locally. It's very pretty.

Hi again- the Bernat Satin Sport pattern can be found here:

http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2259

you have to sign up for their free membership, but the pattern is free. it also comes free on some ball bands.

I found this particular yarn at Michael's; I've seen it available through Mary Maxim's craft catalog too, but it is more expensive there. I think I've seen it at the JoAnns near me - a superstore.

enjoy!

Mary, thanks so much for posting a pic of your FO. The picture they have on Bernat's site just doesn't do the shawl justice--I probably would've just passed it by had I would've only seen their picture. I'll have to take a trip over to Michael's after the Thanksgiving weekend rush dies down to check out this yarn. Thanks again for posting!
