Saw this pattern on the inside of some Red Heart yarn and thought my boyf's daughter would LOVE it (she's 10). The beads will be strung onto 18 inch strands of fringe at the ends that are used to tie the belt in front. I really hope she likes it!!

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone!!!:muah: :muah: It's so nice to hear from fellow knitters...don't get me wrong, my family and my boyf are very supportive, but when I show them a WIP, their reactions are a bit lackluster in comparison to you guys.:woohoo:

I remember my first cable project, and how much fun it was. I still can't believe I was so scared to cable.

Fringe: Cut sixteen 36" strands. Fold a strand in half, forming a loop. Bring the loop through an end stitch and then bring the cut ends through the loop; tighten. Repeat 7 more times across each end of the belt for 18" fringe. String random beads to each cut end; knot the end to secure beads in place. Knot all strands together at the top of the fringe approximately 1" from where the knitting begins.:knitting:

I feel you! I'm working on a cable project myself that is my first and when I completed the first round of the pattern, I was so excited! But. . .no one else was as thrilled as I was! :-P

When I read your decription I thought maybe you meant 18 one inch strands of fringe, but I see from your pattern that the strands or fringe are actually 18 inches long. That is a lot of bead stringing. :-) But a 10 year old girl should love all those beads. She should feel very groovy wearing that.

Nice work on the cable. Cool color.
