I took a class at the LYS to learn to do Fairisle. The pattern was a simple little hat. I did the red one first and the white ones later at home. I can't remember what yarn I used because it was mostly stuff from my stash. I do remember the yarn being wool. I used a size 7 needle.

Those are really pretty. I am taking a class in January because I tend to hold the yarn so tightthe pattern puckers and looks awful Great job on your hats and a great model!!!Tillie

Thank you everyone for the kind words. The model is my first Granddaughter. Her Mama is in the Army. She is currently deployed to Baghdad, Iraq so the baby, Mia stays with me. And needless to say I am enjoying every second of her being here.:-P

Great hats!! You did really well on the Fair Isle on all of them. Hats are so much fun and Fair Isle is a good skill to ply on them. I like the little i-cord "stem" on top of the one hat.

Cute little model too. It looks like he is starting to try to pull the hat off in a couple of the pictures. LOL Par for the course. Or maybe he is pulling it on...Nah. :-)

I was looking at your little dollie again and I was wondering. Is that a picture of her mommy on her tray? If so I think that's a great idea

Yes that is a picture of her Mama. She has a couple of pictures that she carries around with her. We try to not let her forget who her Mama is. I just got word that they may be coming home from Iraq in Feb.

These little Fair Isle hats are too way cute! Just adorable! I really love them all, but I think my fav is the 2nd hat...the little white hat with the pastels! Thanks for sharing your work with us! Darlin' little baby, too, BTW!

I just put up a post asking for a beginner Fair Isle pattern. Is this one that you can share? Does FI always have to be done in wool? It seems like all the patterns I see call for wool.

Oh, those hats are so cute. Or is it the child inside that makes them extra special?

Last night I went to a city meeting and took some simple minded kniting. Sometimes another woman and I exchange what we're doing or I can answer quetions for her.

City council is a great place to get your knitting done. I use asisted listening so, when I turn it off no one can tell. I don't have to listen to the unofficials blather on. I just continue knitting.

The little red hat was out of a book. And for the life of me I can't find the book now. But for the other two hats I got out a pattern book and picked some simple charts that would work with my stitch count. What ever chart you choose to do my advise to you would be to enlarge the chart with a copier so you don't have to strain to see the symbols.
