Here's the result of my visit to the pet supply store today...

Aubie, in her Mrs. Claus getup

Pele is not amused with his Rudolph costume.

Molly thought it was Halloween...

So I took the costumes back to the store because they were too small for the dogs. I came home with new Christmas collars...

Aubie - posing so sadly (actually, dh took this picture and claims he's the Dog Whisperer since she cooperated so nicely)

Molly is getting tired of this game...

Pele refused to cooperate with his own time to shine, so no individual portrait with the new collar...BUT...

I did get the three of them to cooperate for about 10 seconds...

Awww! What cute pictures. My cats would shred my arms if I tried to dress them up. You're so lucky.

This is my kitten Tara. For the sake of this picture we called her Kitten Claus for the whole Holiday season the year this shot was taken. It took us 28 shots to get this picture. She was NOT happy to have the hat on, although she did not mind the collar. She was 5 months old in this picture. She is now 5 years and 4 months old. She wears the collar every year for the month of December.

She is my enabler. She sits and watches me knit, but usually does not bother to pay too much attention.

Merry Christmas to one and all, from The.Knitter and Kitten Claus.

Looks like it was worth the effort, though! How cute!

I'm sooo jealous your puppers cooperate for such pictures. My first 2 dogs let me do anything to them...I've been begging my hubby to let me buy get ups for our current 2 dogs - maybe I'll use this thread as the catalyst..
All your animals are very cute - esp love the 2 labs with their heads resting on the presents !

What tricks do you guys use to get your dogs to cooperate? Anytime I try to put anything on mine they give me shifty looks and walk away. hehe. I have 3 dogs, so my ultimate Christmas card dream is one as Santa, one as Mrs. Claus, and one as a reindeer. Or, maybe I just have too much time and should start knitting more. lol. :eyes:

Well, it kind of looked like cattle rustling at my house. I have two teenagers, and we wrastled (that's "wrestled" for you northerners) the dogs until we got their costumes on.
No...I'm just kidding. I'm not that mean. The only one who gave me trouble was Molly...the baby. She's got a temper, so we had to chase her around the house a bit. :teehee:

As far as getting them to lay down, I just pushed their hineys down, and they stayed. Pele (the middle one) is easy going. I had to roll him back on his tummy a few times and distract him so he wouldn't think it was time for a belly scratch. Aubie, the oldest, is trained. She'll stay where you want her (hence her model pose).

I have one Christmas picture of my kitty wearing a red, velvet collar type thing with jingle bells on it. I swear, she acted like it was choking her the entire five minutes she had it on, it wasn't, in fact it was loose. It now is used as a decoration on a wooden reindeer we have, at least he doesn't complain and fake choking with it. :teehee:

Yes, she's probably between 30 and 35 pounds now. Nice of you to remember my little adoptee from this summer! Such a card she is!

Pele just turned a year old, and between him and Molly, it's like I've got toddlers this Christmas. They keep nibbling on the tree, and they are thinking about doing the same to my ornaments.

They all look soo cute!!! I wish my dog would play dress up!
A few years ago I bought a really cute Santa hat for my dog Bentley but he was not amused! I put it on him, turned around to get the camera and in that second he had ripped it off and torn it. Here is Bentley's Christmas picture from last year. As you can see he is Not dressed up at all. I think I am going to get him a Christmas collar this year! I have not even tried with the cats, I value my hand too much!! LOL!

They're so cute! The one time i tired to dress my cat up. He jumped out of my arms and took off like a rocket. He ran throught he entire house at top speed, trying to get away fromt he outfit. It took ten minutes to catch him and take it off. LOL

*cries because her landlord is a butthead et won't let her have pets to dress up*
*contemplates putting a ribbon around her peace lily et calling it a coller, but knows that her plant won't be nearly as darlink as auburnchick, the.knitter, etc.'s pets*
