I'll be 38 come May. And am turning into a calico kitty--mostly dark blond, with a couple of nicely red patches at my temples...plus some gray threading (can I get away with calling it 'silver accents'?)

Although I've been told that if I don't admit to getting older I wont get any presents - I might be okay with that. At least more okay with it than I think I am about turning 30. yikes! That sounds all grown up!

ok...I am going to be the big 50 in September. I can't believe it... I remember 16.... I think I cried most of it or was in my room on the phone.

I stopped counting about 38 or so... Mentally I am mature.. age.. not sure... I have grey hair, and have had since 25.. when my daughter was born. She will be 25 this fall, lol I can't believe where the time went.

My chronological age is 24, but I split my time between being 15 and 50. At work, I spend my day around high school freshmen (eewwww...), and constantly feel about 15. When I get home I spend my time baking and knitting, and ache from work so much I feel 50 (or older)!

:) I used to work with a lady who would actually pad her age - her thought was she would rather have people think she looked really great for 50, than that she looked kind of rough for 40! (Actually, she was very attractive, whatever her age was [she would never really say!]).

Oh my, I really AM the dinosaur here. My mother used to say,"A woman who tells her age will tell anything," well, Mother, here goes: I was 78-years young last September. I am told I don't look it, which makes me feel indeed very young at heart and tend to gravitate to younger people than those my own vintage. Just a kid at heart, I guess. I first began knitting when I was a teenager, a little in my 20's and something just TOLD me recently to go back to it and am having a ball. Love this Forum, you 'kids' are great. Thanks for listening to a 'great grandma.' Wanda

I, for one, am very glad you are here! When I need motherly advice, now I have someone to look to!!! (I'm soon 47) :) And, I like "vintage knitter" for you better than "dinosaur"!

01-04-2008, 02:45 PM

That's so sweet!!! I will definitely let you know. I have missed having an older woman in my life! I have a sister who is ten years older than I am, but she's got more problems than you could shake a stick at, so I can't whine to her about my little issues!

Wanda Witch

Sharly, I would be honored. I lost my mother when I was 45 and leaned on an older aunt quite a bit after that with any doubts or cares that would arise. Young and old can learn so much from one another. Take care.

Wanda, How about being the "Classic Knitter"? ;) (I have nothing against vintage, just giving you options!)

I may or may not be one of the "kids" (it depends on your perspective) but regardless, I know I always welcome experience and knowledge from others (regarless of age). I've always gotten along with "older" people better anyway (I'm sure it has something to do with being the only child of older parents). :)

I officially had the last birthday I need: twenty-five. My insurance will go down soon as it renews. I haven't celebrated my birthday in years, so it doesn't make one bit of difference to me. No one knows when it is. Just so long as my insurance company does and gives me the applicable discount, it's all good. =)

I think it's fabulous that there are so many 60+ knitters on here. I wish I could talk my 74 year old gran into forums or blogging or something online, but she says she's "too old." Pffft. Never!

Whatever the new tech is when I'm a septuagenarian, you can bet I'll be right on it. ^_^ Once a geek, always a geek!

I turn 55 Sept 28th. I love being a grandmother and as there is nothing better I could care less about the number on my driver's license. My 2 little grandsons are the light of my life. With age comes wisdom and though I can be a bit slow with the wisdom, I do have a lot of experience in some things. I treasure my friendships with ladies older than I as well as my young nieces and nephews (12-14) who always ask to speak to me when my brother calls me. I have always believed you get treated according to how you treat others and the ladies and gents at this forum are absolutely the best! I have never laughed so much as when I participate in a fun poll or thread and have even cried and prayed for folks here that are suffering in some way. I have a sister that always asks me the same thing when she calls, "What are you doing?" Since I am always knitting, she can always guess at the answer. I love the craft and though I have a miniscule amount of talent compared to some here, it doesn't deter me from keeping on doing what I love.

I'm 38. I'll be 39 in October. My husband says that I'll always be 27 to him because that's the age I was when we met. I think he's sweet and I'll keep him.

The only problem I have with aging is...I can't figure out how, why or when I went from a "miss" to a "ma'am". I really hate "ma'am".:gah:
