... with BIG thanks :muah: to ritaw who told me in one of her posts the Sirdar leaflet number for the cardigan pattern.

This is a newborn size - for a tiny baby I thought straight sleeves might be more practical than the beautiful puffed alternative. Next time I'll knit a bigger size with the puffy sleeves.

Bootees are Saartje's bootees.

Thank you!!
The colours I used were odd balls that had been buried in my stash, that all jumped out at me for this style... or should I say tumbled out on me. When I open that wardrobe door I have to duck!

It was a bit of an experiment using them together, but I was happy with the result. :cheering:

Those are just adorable!! Where did you get the Saartje's bootees pattern? Is that on the web somewhere or in a book? They are darling. The sweater is really nicely done too.

The flower looks very simple, but so effective. Can you tell us how you made it? Pretty please.

Once again, thank you for all the nice words. You've given me a boost! Using those two patterns it would be hard, though, not to make something adorable... both patterns are so cute.

For the bootees - http://members.home.nl/tdpj/Patronen/Bootees/Saartjes%20bootees.pdf

The flower is easy. Its done with 3.25mm needles - English sizing - (I don't know if that would be the same in US sizing). For a larger flower you can go up one or two needle sizes.
Cast on 66 stitches using longtail cast-on.
*K1, cast off 9 stitches, repeat to end. You will end up with 12 stitches. Break off the yarn, run it through the 12 stitches and draw up and fasten off.
For a two colour flower, cast on with one colour and do the row of K1, cast off 9... with the second colour.

Miss Molly,

Thank you so much! I put the flower instuctions in my knitting hints file for future use, and I bookmarked the bootee pattern. I'll definately be using these. I have a new 3 month old DGD. :-)

How is your summer? We have a lot of snow here in the frozen north?

Thanks again,

Summer has been oh so hot, but tonight its raining and actually a lot cooler. Snow sounds wonderful... I've never seen snow, other than in movies and on TV!

Hi lilsdiamond,
The bootee pattern is free on the web -
http://members.home.nl/tdpj/Patronen/Bootees/Saartjes%20bootees.pdf

The sweater is from a Sirdar pattern leaflet, number 1752. I bought mine from www.ebay.co.uk
