Hi! :waving:

FINALLY DONE! I finally finished the August Knitting Challenge: Cables. Why so long to finish?? I was so bored with all the st st in this pattern that every time I finished a piece or two...I took "knitting side trips". You know...other projects! :doh:About a dozen!

Anyhoo, here she is, along with a cami-tank to match. I had extra yarn, and needed a top to wear with BORGHILD. Designed the cami-tank myself, using Elsebeth Lavold's cable design (as seen in the cardigan) for the chestband. I seamed the band, then picked up stitches along its edge, and knit in-the-round down to the bottom, with some shaping along the way, finishing off with little K1 P1 ribbing to pull it in. Sounds easy, eh? Not so. I knit and re-knit everything about this little cami-tank...however, it wasn't boring! Just tedious! So much for design work. Emphasis on the word "WORK"! :teehee:

Both are stunning. I checked out her book from the library, drooled over all the pictures, then returned it as way beyond my abilities to date.

Oh yeah! This is for me alright! I'm going to wear it to a weekend function on Feb 2, 3...well, I will wear it EITHER of those days, not both! Tee Hee! :teehee:

However, I have to wear a skirt for this function...and I own a beige-cream knee length skirt, which I think is too short for this cardigan, which hits me at about the knee. Sigh. I am so short. I should have realized that the model was tall! Anyhoo, I'll have to make a trip to the mall to look for a longer skirt, about mid-calf or just below mid-calf length. I'll wear it will heels to give my little legs a longer appearance. :eyebrow:

The model is wearing slacks, which makes a tunic length cardigan look best. So, a long skirt is on the shopping agenda!

knitting muse? I want her to be my mom! :)

I WISH any of the my kids would take an interest in knitting! I have 2 sons, and 3 daughters...none of 'em knit, sew, crochet or quilt. Sigh.

Oh well, there are the 10 grands! :happydance: Two of the granddaughters have shown an interest. I taught both of them. So far, the 21 yr old is too busy with college and 2 jobs...and the other grand is only 8...and too busy with elementary school homework.

Maybe this summer....

I hate cameras...avoid them like the plague...but I may let DH take a photo of me in this sweater set on the day I wear it to our event...or maybe I'll have my girlfriend take a photo of us together...and I will post the photo afterwards.

We are off to have professional photos taken today at a studio...only because our DD and DSIL gave us a GIFT of free studio photos LAST YEAR for our anniversary...and the GIFT will expire on Jan 27th!

THAT is how long I have put off this sitting. ACK!

And here I sit at the 'puter, emailing y'all about it while I put off ironing my shirt that I supposed to wear. And we have to leave in 15 minutes.

Nothin' like a deadline. :eyes:

First of all, you don't look old enough to have a 21-year old grand !
Wow. And each time I see what is "OTN" for you, I try to imagine what color will show up. You have really outdone yourself. Congratulations.
When do you sleep?

:aww: Thanks for the compliments and kind words!

I sleep from 3 am til 9 am. :teehee:

My work is weekend (art shows) and no kids at home... allows this knitting time! So I can knit no less than 6 hrs per day.

OK so Sis, now that we have become adopted sisters and all, my favourite colour is red and I can't wear wool, but I am not hard to please.... That twin set is gorgeous and I am sure as your sister, we could look so good together, you in grey, me in red???

Lovely set, great colour choice, fantastic work (as usual) and did the lawyer contact you yet about my name change? LOL!!!

No, no pattern for the cami-tank.

I knit the cable panel by itself...the cable that runs up the fronts...for about the inches that would fit around the top of my bust...and then seamed it. Then, I picked up stitches along the edge, and knit in the round 'downwards' til it was about the right length...then changed to a smaller needle for the 3" ribbing, and then cast off.

Alert: I knit and re-knit this thing several times. The first attempt at the cabled band...it was waaaaay too big...had to frog back a lot of inches.

The second attempt, I picked up way too many stitches...so the st st was puckered.

The third attempt, I ended the bottom wrong. I ended with 2 inches of garter stitch. It looked horrid, and it was rippley.

The 4th attempt, I ended the top TOO SHORT. Had to undo the cast off and knit over, and more inches.

The 5th attempt, I decided to do ribbing...but I increased a lot for the ribbing so that it would curve out over my hips. That design idea took several attempts. How many should I increase? Where should I do the increases?

Ack!

Anyway, I never worked so long and so hard at such a simple looking tank top! :hair:

But, I really really really needed something to wear under this cardigan. I mean, a white blouse? Ack.

I was motivated to keep at it!

Yeahhhhhh! :cheering: My skirts arrived today...and one of them will work perfectly with BORGHILD! It is a long boot length skirt...a lighter chocolate brown, fine-wale corduroy! WhooooHoooo!

I ordered the same corduroy skirt in a med denim blue...and that skirt will go perfect with a NORO Silk Garden cardigan called BETTNA. It is an oldie but goodie. My favorite NORO cardigan BTW.

So I am set for that weekend event! Sigh of relief. ;)

I also ordered a boot-length chenille skirt (with fringe on the bottom edge) in chocolate, (not the right shade for BORGHILD), beige-tan, and black

I was boot-length-skirt-deprived up til today. :cheering:

Hi Jenifer!

BORGHILD is in Elsebeth Lavold's Designers Choice Book Nine called "The Second Viking Knits Collection".

HERE (http://www.ingenkonst.se/svkc3_e.htm) is a link to Elsebeth's website. You can see all the other patterns in that book as well.

I couldn't find it for sale on AMAZON, and I did a quick search of EBAY for you...couldn't find it...but I know that is must be available on many yarn online websites that carry her yarn.

WAIT! I FOUND IT! I FOUND IT!
At YarnMarket! CLICK HERE (http://www.yarnmarket.com/yarn/Elsebeth_Lavold-Book_9_The_Second_Viking_Knits_Collection-3491.html) for only $17.95!
