First off: If this has been discussed before I apologize in advance but I couldn't find anything using the Search box.

Second: Does anyone know where I can buy a decent sized sewing basket? They are next to impossible to find. I've tried ebay, Joann's and Michaels and found zero, zip, nada at any of those places. The one I have now is quite compact, maybe 12" x 10" x 3" deep.

I want something that's a decent size but not ginormous that I would need a trailer to carry it around the house! :teehee: And I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a cheapy small piece of crap. That's all Joann seems to carry, small pieces of crap. I don't mind spending a little bit more for something that's made well, and in America if I'm lucky.

I don't know where to look anymore, any suggestions? DH thought I should start trying Antique stores.

Have you thought about looking on e-bay or overstock.com? You might want to try www.nancysnotions.com and see if they have anything you like.

Check for local quilting shops and fabric stores. Not the big name stores, but single owned smaller shops. They usually have the neatest stuff!

I've seen some large baskets with a wooden lid (sometimes hinged) which might suit your purposes. On this site, you need to buy your lid and your basket separately, but see if these might work for you: http://www.basketsofjoy.com/picnic-basket-lids-and-creel-lids.aspx There are some pie baskets here which might work http://www.jollieprimitives.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=22 or here http://www.peterborobasket.com/store/basket-list.asp?c=72&baskets=Pie+%26+Picnic+Baskets

I think I'll keep this link for a lidded knitting basket... http://www.peterborobasket.com/store/basket-list.asp?c=63&basket=Knitting%20/%20Magazine I've been looking for something like this, and these are the nicest I've found.

I'm not sure why you said you couldn't find any one eBay. I did a search and came up with over 300 of them -- from new to FABULOUS antique ones that have made *me* considering buying one!

I'm thinking of the following:

Thanks for the links Carrie. But when I said I couldn't find anything on ebay it's because what I did find I don't like. Plain and simple. I guess I have a picture in my mind of what I want but haven't found it yet.
