These were fun! They aren't perfect, but I learned a lot. And really.. who cares?! They are house socks and they are fun to wear around the house. I keep looking at my feet. :teehee:

If you look closely you'll see that while they are different colors the pattern is the same which helps with continuity I think. Oh and we discovered that some colors are slightly thinner or thicker than others so some of the bands don't exactly match.

Those are really cool Jan. I love all the colors. You see so much done with self-striping yarn these days, but you put all that in there yourself didn't you? A lot of work but like you said a good learning experience. Each sock being different is a plus with me. It would definately help prevent 2nd sock syndrome. LOL

Oh yes, I learned a lot about fair isle doing these! For one.. strand loosely!! :teehee: They are fun, and they make me happy. :thumbsup: I won't be working on the new colors for a bit, have some other stuff to do, but I'll check out the sock KAL when I do. ;)

Thanks!

Jan,do those glow in the dark? LOL

:roflhard::roflhard:

They sure do look like they should don't they!? They are made from Plymouth Encore DK and I think it's just the color combinations that give them that 'glow'. :teehee:

Thanks everyone! I bet your kids would all love them! ;)

I LOVE the bright colors! I like the heel of that too - is it just a garter stitch? They are absolutely beautiful! I wouldnt make them just house socks - they deserve to be strutted in the real world!

Aww thanks! Yes, it's a garter stitch short row heel. Something new I learned in this sock. As for wearing them out... I wouldn't mind so much, but these are DK weight and fair isle so essentially double thickness. WAY too thick for shoes with my fat feet. :teehee:

Awesome socks!! If I ever get over my fear of fair isle:shock: , I might just give those a try!

Try this for learning fair isle..it's where I learned. Then I did a few hats where I just did a fair isle band of stitches. Once you get the hang of it it's not hard at all. And it's FUN!

Here's some of the hats I played with to keep learning. ;)

Gorgeous socks, Jan. And patterned yarn doesn't hold a candle to work like this for creating such gorgeous color combinations. Congrats on a beautiful finished object.
