View Full Version : Baby Doll Sweater

I knitted this sweater a month ago for my daughter's doll. It is made of left over Lambs Pride. I decided to make this for the following reasons:
1) My daughter was home sick from school. I could knit during the movies she was watching.
2) To use up small bits of left over wool.
3) I wanted to practice a steek on something useful, so this was it.
4) To protect the doll! The doll is wearing it's second set of pajamas sewn by my mom-in-law. I have had to do some serious patching of the dolls cloth body. My daughter always sleeps with this doll and it is now 7 years old and well loved.

So the fair isle was totally random and unplanned. The steeking is not perfect but it worked and was a good lesson none the less. The sweater has held up so far and my daughter actually likes it. I didn't have a pattern just sort of planned it out using Elizabeth Zimmerman's percentage system. I had to wing the yoke though as the baby doll is not built like an actual human. All in all I think it's pretty cute.

Very cute and your daughter must love it. Great idea of practicing steeks! I have never done one, but when I do, I'll have to remember your idea of practicing on a "little" sweater!
