I just placed an order on Etsy for 20 skeins of hand dyed merino sock yarn for $65! :happydance:

I'll be watching the mailman eagerly this week. :inlove:

:teehee: I think this might be where mom and me ordered 20 skeins for 55.00 back in Jan/Feb...the yarn is very soft and the colorways are nice...

Here (http://www.juliasyarn.com/yarn.html)is the website and the yarn was cheaper there than her etsy store (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5527843)until it hit ravelry then the yarn went up to the same price as etsy...:teehee:

I couldn't resist ordering the superwash merino when I found out about it a few months ago. I've found the yarn a bit splitty, but a great deal none the less. The finished product looks really nice, even with my wide ankles! (see attachment)

I've already gotten enough requests off of this one sock to require another order to Julia's. I may spring for the big pack of 100 balls for $250 when my tax refund arrives. Hard to beat $2.50 a ball for such pretty yarn! My dearest is going to regret the day he made me my very own "crafting" room. :teehee:

Here's my post on my 2nd pair of socks from this yarn. I love it! I've ordered twice! You get free shipping if you order from her website and then she sends tempting coupons to your email. see my socks here:

I will say this. Everytime she sends a coupon code, she raises her price to cover it. Still a fantastic yarn at a fantastic price. It washes and wears like a dream.

Both of your socks are amazing! I love the yarn but I also love the patterns! Can I ask where you got both patterns? I have been looking for a basic pattern and the heel on your second pair looks really nice.

My pattern is nothing more than a basic sock pattern found all over the internet. Yarn Harlot's basic sock recipe and others. The heel on mine is eye of partridge.
Row 1: Slip 1,then purl across
Row 2: *Slip 1, Knit 1* across
Row 3: Slip 1, then purl across
Row 4: Slip 1, knit 2, *slip 1, knit 1* across until last 2 stitches. knit those 2.
And that's all there is to the heel.

Just to tempt you all, here's the beginning of my socks, which I'm knitting with yarn from the same seller. I love the yarn, it's nice and soft and knits like a dream! :)

Pretty socks, everyone! And I love that pattern, Abbiliy - is that feather and fan? I'd love to see them when you get them done!

All these sock yarns are REALLY tempting! It's nice to knit with too?

Congrats on getting the "surprise gift"! I too ordered from Julia's Yarns (the sampler pack), but didn't get a surprise.

Here's what I received:

Wow-I love that yarn! I haven't knit any socks yet but started the sleeves for my baby sweater on DPN's today and have been thinking about it.

Is 1 skein enough for a pair? For size 9.5 feet w/ fat ankles?

In my experience, it takes two skeins to make a pair of average-sized socks. The only time I got two socks out of one skein was when I made kid socks for my 5 year old niece.

Oh, that's good to know. Things usually take way more yarn than I think. I would hate to end up with 1 sock! I am sure it would need an ugly twin (although it would most likely be fraternal)

:-)

I don't know, because I knit 2 socks, using 2 skeins, and different needles, at the same time. I don't believe I ever have enough left over to do another complete pair-maybe a child's pair or anklets. I wear a size 10 shoe, so mine ae retty big.

Cool to know I might be able to make them for one of the kiddos as well. If I ever learn to knit socks.

Yeppers... the scraps from the Horcrux above, my Krazy Stripes (http://www.earth-whispers.com/craftsockskrazykroyadultsocks.html) and my Monkeys (http://www.earth-whispers.com/craftsockscashmeremonkey.html) produced these mini gems. My nieces never have cold feet and I have a great use for the tidbits of leftover yarn. http://earth-whispers.com/img/photos/2008/april/IMG_0139.JPG

I hope you learn to knit socks someday. I can bet it will be one of your favorite knitting projects!
