I just did these with bits of scrap yarn I had lying around and filled them with cotton balls dipped in catnip...they loved them...or at least the catnip.

I'm here to tell you that these toys do NOT make cats forget about your knitting project and that it is their mission to remove your handiwork from the needles and rip it to shreds...but it DOES distract them temporarily which to me is a HUGE victory!!! :teehee:

Those are cute. Have you thought about keeping your work in a Rubbermaid container? I had to do that until our last cat died last year. Now it's all in a basket.

BTW, I found out years ago that when the catnip aroma disappears, you can 'revive' it by putting a few drops of water on the toy and microwaving it for ten seconds or so. My cats always enjoyed these renewed toys for a few days more.

All the toys are in two baskets...but the cats regularly upend them in search of their favorite toys. It's sort of like having furry toddlers around sometimes... :teehee:
