I can't resist showing off my DDs costumes for her very first ballet recital (she's just turned 4)
This is for Minnie at the Beach (as in Minnie Mouse)
This is for her Pocahontas number
And this is for the finale

Little girl dancers are so cute.
I started dance when I was 3 - we had little yellow bonnets but I don't remember what we danced to. I had a love/hate relationship with dance (as in, I love music and I love to dance, but I hated my class). My dance teacher only does 3-18yos... Despite the many times when I resolved that "THIS" would be my last year, I was one of the few from my class who made it to the end.
Tell your dd "Break a leg", which you may have to explain means good luck. I found that hilarious at her age. :) Oh and be sure to wave to her while she's on stage. The little ones love that.

She is so anxious, excited, and happy that her recital is coming up. Almost every day she asks if this is the day. I'm more nervous for her than she is. I remember when I had my first recital, and I was so excited I couldn't remember how to do anything!

She's adorable! That red hair is just stunning. I bet she is going to be a very beautiful woman when she grows up!! Nice costumes too. Don't forget to wave at her when she comes on stage. It will mean a lot to her and she will always remember that!

Oh My! She is too cute! My daughter was dancing at that age and continues to this day (23 in May). She, too, is a redhead!

She looks adorable! My dd is 4 too, but does gymnastics instead. We get the show in a few weeks, but without the adorable costumes. I'm a little jealous! I hope she has fun!

What adorable costumes! I was a ballet dancer for 10 years and I started when I was 3, it was so much fun. My first recital was quite eventful, I was the tiniest one (you would have a hard time believing that now- I'm 5'8) and I was at the end of the line for the end of the number and we were scurrying off stage (we were mice) and my skirt fell right off. I didn't know what to do and the WHOLE crowd was laughing, I think they thought it was on purpose. I just stopped, looked at them, pulled up my skirt and ran off stage.
You should bring your daughter flowers for afterwards. I remember all the little girls got flowers after the recital when I was little (I didn't, and I still remember the dissapointment).

I second the flowers. Our helpers always got all their girls carnations (the high school girls help teach the little girl classes, and they always wanted to be sure that none of their little ones got left out), but my favorites were always the flowers I got from my dad. He always picked something unusual or fancy (I got this big purple flower once that I never did figure out what it was, or else I'd get brightly colored roses, or a small arrangement of two or three types of flowers).
My parents never let me take my flowers on stage (for finale/final bows) until I was older, though. I'm still not sure why - all the other girls took theirs on. My mom was probably worried that I would drop them. She needn't have bothered. A tornado couldn't have ripped away the flowers my daddy gave me.
Once we got to the upper levels, most of us would buy flowers for each other (as in, we'd buy a dozen carnations and pass them out to each girl in our class... for our senior year we got roses).
