:wall: I got a letter from Coats and Clark with the SASE in it... they're ordering me another skein of the Sassy Stripes and having it sent directly from their distribution center.....
and it'll take 3-4 weeks to get it. Keep in mind that the socks I was making with this was intended to be a gift and given to the person ONE WEEK from today.... :waah:
Anyone want to place any bets on it NOT being the same dye lot that I bought and thus becoming completely useless???? :nails:

The best you can do now is... start over with totally new yarn (NOT Coates & Clark!!)
And... can you say, knitting marathon? :knitting:
If it is any help, the first pair of socks I knitted were for my father (I was 13). I finished the first one... and gave it to him for his birthday. By Christmas, I had the second sock finished... and it was his Christmas present.
A couple of years later, he put them in the washer - then dryer. End of socks.
Would this be any kind of option?

Give her the one finished sock on her b-day and the 2nd one in a few weeks when you get the new ball and can make the 2nd. After you give her the one, repossess it so you can compare them when the new ball arrives.
Even if the dye lot is different (you're right, most likely it will be) it may still work. If the coloring is just a bit off, it most likely won't be noticeable in 2 seperate socks - only would be noticeable if you had to use the 2 different skeins on the same sock.
It might be a problem if the length of color sequencing differs dramatically - ie, the blue stretch of yarn on ball 1 is 15" long but on ball 2 its' 26" long - then the size of the striping would be dramatically off. If that were to happen, you could still run with it - socks don't have to match. Right now I'm making these illusion socks http://slippedstitch.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_slippedstitch_archive.html in red/white stripes and doinig the toe/heel in red on one sock and white on the other.

Somebody at C&C really went above and beyond the call of duty.
It's nice to know that they care about making customers happy.
(Or maybe they read this thread and feared the wrath of the knitting masses.) I'm glad it worked out so well for you.

Made me realize that there's a reason i've been buying their products for over 10 years LOL...
Now what to make with the other 2 skeins... maybe a pair of wrist warmers to give her at the fall gathering for our tribe....
