I just purchased the "essential baby" debbie bliss Knitting book. My sister is having a baby and I'm hoping to be next. :teehee:
All the patterns call for cashmerino. I looked it up and it's 8 dollars a ball. Is there a more economical alternative that wouldn't be yucky feeling. Anyone used other yarns on the patterns in that book?

I'm not sure about alternatives, but Little Knits is having a sale on Cashmerino. The baby cashmerino is $4.39 for certain colorways.

I made a set if twins sweaters and hats out of baby cashmerino. They were lovely and the mom says they wear them all the time.
I made an adult sweater out of the chunkier cashmerino, and it pilled horriby after I washed it. I managed to shave most of the pills, but I'm just so disappointed with it that I may do it in a different yarn since it's for my neice.
There are some lovely, inexpensive baby yarns out there. A lot of them contain nylon and the all feel really soft.
