*sigh*. I've been home for two weeks. Dispatch emailed me this morning to ask if I was ready to leave yet. Despite my desire to just stay home I do need to earn a living so I told them yes.

I have to pick up a couple of forklifts in Jacksonville tomorrow and take them up to the Chicago area.

If it weren't for the need to eat and a roof over my head I'd be all set

Back to the old grind tomorrow.

I am in the same boat Mason. If it weren't for those dang bills I would be happy to live a life of (pretty much) solitude. I like spending time with family and a few good friends but that is it - and I usually get sick of them after an hour! (Don't get me wrong, I love my family and friends to pieces!)

I wish I could but by the time I get loaded tomorrow I'll have to haul donkey to make Chicago Friday morning.

Be safe in your travels...and don't forget to take some cheap needles and yarn for the next few people that approach you in bars to ask about knitting so you don't mess up your sweater or other projects...

Happy trails to you, until we meet again! Wave "hi" when you get to the corner of I95 and I16. I am from Chicago and it is still my fav place so wave to the beautiful lake for me. Here's a link to a knitting shop in Chi town:

http://www.ninachicago.com/

They opened after I moved so I was never there but it looks fabulous.

And here are two of my fav restaurants there:

keep the shiny side up and greasy side down, keep it between the ditches, and watch out for those bears!

Safe passage, and know you're our knitting ambassador!

Agree, agree, agree on Cafe Iberico. It's a lot of fun and one can usually meet nice people. Especially if one's knitting:rofl:

Safe travels, Mason. We just got back from a 4,000 road trip with a 2-month old! While it was nice to get to spend time with our 1st grandchild, I doubt that either she or I will be spending a lot of time in the car in the near future. We ran into the severe thunderstorms that plagued the area (Neb, WY, Idaho) last week and I continue to have such admiration for the long haul drivers. Not only do they have to contend with the weather, they have to watch out for the likes of us, Californians who are NOT used to driving in weather.

I did get a lot of knitting done and found a GREAT lys in Jackson Hole, WY if you're ever in the area.

LOL;

Actually those of us in the Road Dog club do use the Buddy Tracker at gpsgate.com to record our position on the map when we stop somewhere that has net access.

You can probably track me there, I use my CB handle there, "Needles", but you have to sign up for a free account in order to use it.

You can add me as a buddy using the "invite" tab and then see my location on the map.

I don't update it every day, just when I get web access.

Hey Mason, if you're ever on I-40 east of Albuquerque, we have a great yarn store. Let me know and I'll come down and meet you.
