Translate these pattern directions?

I'm making a tank top from Rowan Summer Tweed Collection and the pattern is confusing. Near the end of the directions for the front it says

Keeping sts correct as set, dec 1 st at each end of next and foll 3 alt rows. 48 sts.

What does "keeping sts correct as set" mean? Just a reminder not to screw it up? I understand and know how to dec 1 at each end of next row but I'm confused what "foll 3 alt rows." means.

I can always just wait till class next week I guess.

It sounds like another way of saying to keep the stitch pattern as set. Alt rows means every other row, so 3 alt rows is every other row 3 more times.

I've got similar directions on the Ginger tank I'm getting ready to CO from that collection. Which pattern are you doing?

astonh -I'm doing the "Ginger" tank...same as you! It's been easy to this point but now I'm a bit daunted by the pattern. But, I'm taking a class so it should be ok. :)
