central park hoodie sizing problem!

After searching for the perfect pattern to knit my first sweater, I finally found the Central Park Hoodie in Knitscene. I think I can handle the pattern and I can't wait to get started. Since I've never done a sweater before, I'm a little stuck on what size to make.

My bust measures at 37''. The pattern can be knit for 36'' or 40''. Which one should I do? I don't want the sweater to be too big, but too tight would be awful too. Any suggestions?

The hoodie is designed to be fitted, so if you want room I would say to go with the 40", or you could follow the pattern for 36" using 1 needle size up from perfect gauge.

I would recommend taking your favorite hoodie that you already own, lay it flat on the ground and measure the circumference of the bust. That's how I determined which size to knit mine.
