and it was amazing! I had always wanted to see it for years and finally got my chance today. *Yes, soon I'll post my many, many GC photos on my blog... and I'm sure that no photo will show the beauty of the place either.

Have you seen it?

Yes, DH, the kids and I went to see the canyon a couple years ago. It's true, no photo anywhere can do it justice. It's absolutely amazing and literally breathtaking. I totally gasped when I saw it the first time!

Here's one of my favorite pix... this is DH sitting on the edge. There is another ledge just below him, it's not as perilous as it looks. ;)

My BF and I went a couple of years ago during the winter. There is just no description that can do that place justice. I agree that Pictures just can't possibly describe it. You just gotta go there yourself.

I have a picture of me standing "on the edge" that looks similar Silver, but like your DH I was in no danger cus there was a ledge right below me :)

We always went to the ugly side because of less traffic. I was never impressed.
We went to the pretty side once and I still wasn't impressed.
I'm not into cliffs and heights. I would probably like it better going down in and looking up.

I like Arches, Bryce and Zion much better. My favorite is Mesa Verde.

Yep, seen it, rode a horse down in to it, and camped in it for a while. Quite impressive for a big ditch.

You sound like you're pretty immune to mountains. I've lived my whole life at sea level in flat land Florida. I get excited about a hill, let alone the canyon. :teehee:

Haven't been there in a long time, but was so impressed with the beauty and majesty. Haven't been to Bryce or Zion in about the same amount of time, but my favorite was Grand Canyon.
Living where I do I am loving getting out and exploring all the beautiful scenery in the northwest. The Cascade range is gorgeous and the Rockies are awe inspiring.
There is just so much natural beauty across this continent and there is something to be awed at most everywhere.

The mountains make me sick. I wish I had an immunity :)
I like being stationary in them but I can't handle something about driving through them. I think it's the constant pressure change. Pike's Peak is horrible.

I think the Grand Canyon was just built up too much with fancy pictures. It never looked like that when I was there but the other canyons/arches do look like their pictures.
But I think if I was down in it and up close it would be different.
