There was another thread post about audio books to listen to while knitting. And since I just got an ipod, that idea interested me.
I have been looking for the audio book of Dr Zhivago, and now I found out something that is bugging me, because I don't know why. I found the audio book on line at audiobooksbay.com, but they will not sell it to anyone in the US.
Interesting, does anyone know why. Is the topic of the book outlawed in the US? Or does it have to do with the author's rights. Just wondering if anyone knows why it would be this way. I really wanted this one.

Could be many things. One explanation is that another publisher might hold the rights for this book in the US. If this is the case, the publisher of this audiobook, Harper Collins, wouldn't be authorized to sell their version of the book in the US.

I'm pretty sure it's a business/legal reason anyways. Definitely not the topic of the book.

they don't make book topics "illegal" in the us. For instances you can buy a communist manifesto in the US no problem. In the uk they do have illegal books though. Here a book might get banned in public schools but thats it.
