Hi, I'm fairly new here. Been interested in knitting for about a year now but finally started really getting into it. I've taught myself how to knit and have made a couple of pot holders and bath mitts. Now I want to make a cute bath scrubber that I found here http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/clothtrinity.htm
The pattern says p3tog and I was doing that but doesn't that decrease the stitches? I'm assuming it's like p2tog, just with 3 sts. Am I dumb? lol. I appreciate all your help.

Yes it does decrease your stitches, but you are alternating between k1,p1,k1 into one stitch and then decreasing with the p3tog so at the end of the row your stitch count will remain the same.

As Plantgoddess+ pointed out working k1, p1, k1 into next stitch are the increases done to offset your p3tog dec.

ETA: if unclear on the increase it's explained here (http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=81429)

Oh I get it! I was k1,p1,k1 separately, not in one stitch. I wasn't sure what that meant but now I understand. Ok thanks so much. I'll work on that today.
