Is lace weight and fingering weight the same ? Some yarn has weight by number so would lace weight be a 1 ?

Even though that chart has "fingering" in both size 0 (lace) and size 1 (super fine), most patterns that call for fingering weight mean something slightly heavier than lace weight. In other words, if I saw the term "fingering", I would go for the size 1, and if I saw "lace", I would go for the size 0.

Lace is thinner than fingering, and it usually doesn't have a number on the label, but when it does, it's a 0.
