You certainly may! This is my very own pattern, on my blog and published in Patternfish, Ravelry and Etsy!

Valentine Design Pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/valentine-design-tablecloth)

I used size 1(US) 2.25mm for this one and Empress Crochet Cotton, took 1200 yards or 3 balls.

I need to add that the pattern can be done with any size needle and any size/type fiber.

It's adjustable for the size you need!

Thanks.... I started this back in August after Nobones sent me a ball of the Empress Crochet cotton. After I started, decided to make it larger and ordered 2 more balls from Texere in UK, which took about 3 weeks to deliver. In the middle of it, decided to design and produce the pattern into a full version, suitable for a tablecloth, shawl or blanket. A lady in Texas kindly test knitted it into a shawl for me... hers only took about 2 weeks to do.

Mary, every time you post one of your new masterpieces my jaw drops. They are so lovely!

What you can do with tiny thread and size one needles is amazing!

BTW, I've tried to open your blog several times today, and it never works. Is there some other way to access it besides the link in your signature line?

Thank you all, for the wonderful comments! It does take alot of "Stick-to-it-tiveness" to do these but well worth it and not that difficult. I think that anyone can do them!

Holy Cow!!! OMG Mary that is stunningly beautiful. I can't even imagine putting out something of this quality! You amaze me!!!

P.S. What is Knitting Solitude?

Thanks! Ahhh, Knitting Solitude is PEACE AND QUIET! It's those two months that my husband and son leave me here all alone with my needles, yarn and patterns to go deep-sea fishing and do their boat repairing in Costa Rica!!! I figured that I'll be at the end of my rope by then. It'll be in the upper 80's and mid 90's for them, around 25 degrees for me, but I can either sleep, knit, wear pjs all day, knit, watch my favorite programs, knit, listen to my favorite music(as loudly as desired), knit, play with patterns, play with yarn.....shall I go on??? I won't have to stop in the middle of a round to check if the rice is burning or try to invent something for supper that they will actually eat and appreciate....no coffee getting, no "Mama, call this guy and tell him his parts are here"...okay, I think you get the definition!!! Isn't it amazing how many dirty dishes only three people can make eating only one meal at home daily? :nails:

The.Knitter
10-16-2008, 05:27 PM
Well I certainly hope you will enjoy those two months. It sounds very knitlicious. May I join you? I won't make you phone anyone, get me coffee, do my dishes or stop you from knitting for any reason. I PROMISE!!!

I bet you are going to make more of those wonderful tablecloths while they are gone, arent' you? My kitchen is forest green (hint, hint)!!!

mwhite
10-16-2008, 05:36 PM
 CERTAINLY!!! And I'm serious! Forest Green, huh? One of my favorite colors!!! Better yet, bring some FG with ya and we'll take turns knitting and making the coffee! :teehee:

Ahhh what a fantastic dream that would be! I suppose you even have a bath tub in your house don't you? I am in a basement apartment (dungeon) so I only have a shower here. And I suppose you do all night knitting sessions like I do when I am getting down to the crunch? Forest green is the base colour for my kitchen scheme and I've been looking for a table cloth since I got the new table last summer, but no luck yet. I would even settle for a green and white checked one but you can't get them in round tablecloths, darn it!!!

Yes my dear, we could make beautiful stitches together.... if I won the lottery!!!

mwhite
10-16-2008, 06:10 PM
Bless your heart, I'd go bonkers without a tub! And the lottery dream sounds wonderful! And all those gorgeous projects you've completed.... I know you could do this pattern! I have made it extendable and adaptable for tables from 30" and up! It basically repeats itself with some tweeking and turns out beautifully.

Such lovely dreams! I probably could not make that if you paid me the Lottery money! You are far too modest and your talent is very extensive. Keep up the good work my friend.

I can't take total credit but to quote from the pattern:

"This pattern is an adaptation of an original doily by Marianne Kinzel from First Book of Modern Lace Knitting courtesy of Dover Publications and designed by MWhitedesigns© 2008

At first, I was satisfied to knit the doily size and gift it to my very, grateful friends. Then, as I worked the pattern and read more of Kinzel’s instructions, it became very clear that this lace beauty was destined to become larger. I hope that as you knit this project, you’ll realize the joys of knitting circular lace. Your finished Valentine Design will be of heirloom quality which will withstand the tests of time. Adaptation rounds are provided for size adjustment. Knitting the full pattern will produce seventy hearts in the outer ring. "

This was a small doily to begin with, about 15".
