I need a stole or wrap pattern that will knit up quickly but is pretty. I do not have any yarn picked out yet, I am hoping to do that today when I visit my LYS. So, right now I am open to any pattern. I would like for it to be elegant once its done -- it's for an elderly woman who is starting chemo.

I finished a nice one this summer. This link will take you to several on my blog:

Hope this helps. My best wishes to your friend.

I like the Cozy (http://www.knitty.com/issuefall04/PATTcozy.html)pattern
I made this one a couple of years ago and it knit up really fast. I made it for a friend and keep thinking I'll make myself one. I made it in Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece...

Stolen Moments Wrap (http://www.indigirl.com/blog/?p=761)
I also made this one last year for a gift and it went really fast too and was pretty...I used Bernat Softee Chunky

Those are nice suggestions. I'm looking to make a shawl out of some gorgeous local alpaca I bought. Katknit... I really like the Buttercup Shawl, I've got to make that sometime. For my alpaca though I'm still trying to decide if I want a 'pointed' shawl, triangle I mean. You have some great shawls on your site!

Just noticed... on the Buttercup pattern.... that's a strange term isn't it "high bulk fingering yarn". Huh. My yarn is fingering I think but alpaca.

High bulk would not be the same as bulky, but a thin yarn with lots of loft or fluffiness to it.

Oh I get it now sue... thanks for the info! I think my alpaca is like that.

Probably, alpaca tends to be somewhat fluffy.

I am currently working on the 'Flordia Wrap'. It's pretty easy and I am using Bernat Satin in Ebony as I'm knitting this for everyday use.
