I have a 3 ply worsted weight yarn. I'd like to practice some techniques using fingering weight yarn, but don't really want to buy any yarn right now until I see how my stuff works out with yarn I can use in my stash. If I use one of these plies from the 3 ply worsted, will that equate to fingering weight yarn?

Hmmm.. I think worsted is equal to 2 strands of fingering weight, but you could try and see if you get a similar gauge.

Wow--that must be some skinny yarn! I've never been "up close and personal" to fingering weight yarn, so I wasn't sure how thick it would be. Thanks!

It's heavier than laceweight though... If you have some worsted with 4 plies, you could try splitting that.
