Very cute! How did you do the letters?

I used a simple chart pattern that I got with a full size Christmas Stocking pattern. They were really easy!! I don't have that chart online, but I know I have seen at least one other letter chart, if you want me to post the link!

Thanks!

So cute! I did several in lots of colors and put them all on the Christmas tree. My grandson loves to wear them on his hands whenever he's here. And my Yorkie roxy tries to steal them and run away. Such a popular project.

Thanks!!! I had such a good time making them!! I am thinking about doing another for next year, only putting numbers on them and doing an advent calendar. I don't have a pattern for numbers so I would have to either make one up or see if I can find one to fit. My mom has an advent calendar garland from Germany that is little felt mittens that is super cute and I think it would be cute in stockings!! :-)

I'd love it if you have one. The one I've seen wasn't as defined when I used it (from one of the free dishcloth pattern sites...I forget which one).

Here is the chart I found online - it is a little more ornate that the one I used.

http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/photos/alphabet/

If you want an zoomed in version of my letters let me know - they are 7 rows tall and most of them are 4 stiches wide although a couple like the M are 5 stiches wide. It probably would be hard for you to graph out a simple alphabet.

Good luck!!

Adorable! So did you use the chart to do duplicate stitch?

Ooooooo.....goodie. :cheering:

I've never used a chart before, though. Do I just purl the filled in squares and knit the rest?:??
And, yes...a zoomed in look would be great. I did some state dishcloths with the outline of the state and then the initials and it was hard to really see the initials (durn it!):whoosh:

Hey Pam!!

I just discovered that if you go back to my original pictures you can click on it and it will zoom it in pretty close - it is actually a really cool feature that I never knew was there!!

My stocking was all stockinette stitch, so when I got to a where I was supposed to start the letter, I picked up the white yarn and used it instead of the red for how ever many stitches needed for that part of the letter. When it was time to switch back to red, I twisted the red and the white yarn together one time and then used the red. And, I did it that same way whether I was on a knit side or a purl side.

Does that make sense? I hope this helps!!
