View Full Version : Headband to go over a cap

Has anyone everheard of this. DH found some that are made out of fleece, and I'd like to make him one from some quivet I have. It seems like should be able to do a normal headband with the cutout.

Just not sure how to do that.

Any suggestions?

Hi Mary! I am not sure I'm following you. What type of hat would this head band go over? Where would the cut out part be? I'm sure there's a way to do it...

I'm not sure I understand either. Do you have a picture of one so we can see it?

I bet this is what Mary is talking about. I bought one for DH last year.

Ohhhh that makes sense! I haven't seen a pattern for that unfortunately.

OK--if that's it, I think you could easily do a regular headband with a cutout. What I'd do is, once you have your gauge, figure out how many stitches wide you would need for the bill of the cap. When you get to the point where you want the "slot" to be for the cap, do like you would for making a one row buttonhole (it would be like a GIANT buttonhole :) )

There is a video on the advanced techniques page for that:

Actually, the one he has is this one:

but the one from Duluth might be better, and I can understand the button hole!!
