ZigZag Socks

I'm going to knit a pair of socks for my brother. I'm using worsted weight yarn and I'm planning on doing a zigzag pattern on the leg. Should I carry it down the foot, or should I do the foot in plain stockinette?

For a man, I'd do the plain foot. Their shoes cover it all up anyway.

It would look nice all the way down the foot, but as Katknit says it won't show anyway so you might as well save some time.
