I swear, sometimes I think this project is cursed.

I'm on the last stretch of this cardigan - the sleeves. I bought a new set of bamboo DPNs to finish it, and started the sleeves last night.

While I was in the shower this morning (project was on the table) my little dog ate my needles. One disappeared entirely, and everything in the project was chewed to splinters. Gaaaah! :gah: :!!!:

This, of course, prompted the vet to ask if I wanted xrays (I found most all of the bits and they were less than a half inch long) but since they are boarding them while I'm traveling for business, I asked that they just watch her.

Drama Dog already hates my knitting because it took her place in my lap, but I didn't think she'd go so far as to eat needles!

:doh:I had that happen once. Now I keep my knitting in a zipped bag.

WOW! It's hard when you always have to stay one step ahead of them. Hope she's ok!

Hey all,
Trish -(this is my attempt at humor) I think that this is the knitting equivalent of the dog eating your homework...
On another note, Trish -I admire your persistance and determination to finish the 'cursed' project. I would like to see a photo of the finished project.

I never buy bamboo needles for that reason. They must smell good or something. My dog will dig through my knitting bag to get at them. My metal needles hold no attraction.

Ah yes, I now have metal needles.

Wanda, she's fine - the vet's office went ahead and had one of the doctors examine her even after I told them I was sure she was okay - they would have called if there was anything they noticed - they have in the past.

She's my little goat - will eat anything and everything, with wood being a particular favorite. I can't keep her from it like I can leather and fabric (so she doesn't eat shoes and clothes) because we have a shade tree and a half-dozen pines in the yard.

She also selectively destroys MY stuff. She got out one day while we were at work and murdered:

Two of my books (mine)
A beret (mine)
Shoes (mine)
A pair of jeans (mine)

Left my husband's stuff completely alone. I have to remind myself that it's because she is *my* dog, and wants to chew on what mama has been touching, but dang, it can get expensive.

I adopted my dachshund when she was almost five years old. I haven't been able to interest her in toys at all, but she LOVES my knitting needles and wool yarn!

I once owned a dog that ate a square foot of vinyl flooring off the kitchen floor, and half a back of the sofa. Couldn't believe it. It was just...gone... We finally had to give her to some people who owned a farm, where the dog could run around outside all day long instead of being bored inside the house!

I have a 10 month old basset hound and he loves my knitting! I can't tell you how many needles I have lost and he also will unravel any balls of yarn that he finds. I try to put everything up very high now so he can't get at it, but sometimes I forget and that little devil is fast!
