Bernat Satin

A friend gifted me with enough Bernat Satin (http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=satin)to make a baby/toddler size sweater. I have a co-worker whose wife is due in a couple of months, and I was thinking about knitting a sweater for the baby.
I was thinking about using it to knit Trellis from Knitty. (http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTtrellis.html)

Have any of you used this yarn before? If so, does it hold up well to lots of washing and drying (that is, is it suitable for kids' clothes :) )?
Do you think it would work OK for a cabled sweater like Trellis?

I've used it for several projects including one with lots of cables and I loved it. It washes well and wears really well. I think you'll be pleased with it.

I've used it several times to make hats and scarves for two little girls and it washes very, very well. I also liked knitting with it, it's so soft!

I bought a bunch of skeins of Bernat Satin at Michael's when it was on sale. I love the yarn; it is very soft and easy to work with. I made four easy cable hats (pattern was on the label) and my boyfriend washed one by accident. The hat was still perfect. I don't know whether to credit my knitting or the yarn. But the yarn is still great and I would buy it again.
