So last night, I was finally ready to do the toe of this second sock. I was admiring how awesome a job I did at joining the colors each time, unlike the first sock which I'm thankful is hidden by the fact that the joins are on the sole. Then it hit me: This sock is SO huge! The heck?! I couldn't figure out what I had done wrong for a whole 6 inches.

It hit me this morning while laying in bed when I couldn't sleep:

I forgot to do the gusset decreases.

:thud: :frog:

Oh dear! Will you take it out and redo? How upsetting, all that time wasted. (But I bet you don't do it again!)

I'm frogging it back to the heel as we speak. I figured out why I forgot to do it, luckily. See, this is the first adult-sized socks with gussets that I've ever done, so I'm not really used to it. The pattern had the gusset decreasing instruction on a separate page from every other part of the instructions, so I must've accidentally skipped that page!

The only good news is that it's sport-weight yarn, so it only took me about 5 hours to do. If it had been fingering-weight? I think I would've had to shoot myself, lol

Oh, I'm so sorry! That sounds like something I would do!

Or my dd...she was knitting slippers and when it was supposed to be decreasing, it kept getting longer and longer. Finally we figured out she'd forgotten how to "SSK" and was slipping a stitch, then another, then just knitting the next stitch. So it was long and, um, a tad "loose."

Anyway, at least you can fix it! :)
