I haven't posted any FO's recently because i was busy with this project. I think it's the most difficult project i knit so far. It has Fair Isle, steeks, shaping in different places in the same time and adjusting the chart to the different shapings. I'm pretty happy with it, except for the part that my gauge went a little off and i probable shouldn't have gone up with the needle sizes. It also makes you look on the photos like you have no bust at all:teehee:. So here we go:
Pattern: Ivy League Vest (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ivy-league-vest) by Eunny Jang from IK Winter 2007.
Needles: 3.75mm and 3.00mm.
Yarn: Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4-ply (http://www.ravelry.com/yarns/library/rowan-yorkshire-tweed-4-ply) in Lustre, Graze, Dessicated (white), Blessed, Highlander and Barley. The yarn is absolutely delightful, it blocks wonderfully and is great for FI, even with the tweedy flecks of colors.

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woot:

THAT is just beautiful, BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You did a great job!!

I am starting a Fair Isle (with steeks) vest class next week, can't wait! I've done steeks on Norwegian sweaters (two colors) but I've not done the Fair Isle.

You have inspired me!

There were too many moments i would start pulling my hair out and then start talking to myself to calm down:rofl: I couldn't do anything while knitting this and definitely took a lot of energy and concentration. But it also was a lot of fun, you're right!

Thank you :) The steeks are not difficult at all, there's a sticky here somewhere ( i think on How-to forum) with a guide from Ingrid on steeks. I also haven't used more than 2 colors at a time. The fine gauge and the frequent color changes make it look more than that. I didn't even reinforce the steeks with sewing machine or crochet, just cut the way they were and then tucked them wuth whipstitch. I'm not sure i'm going to make anything steeked soon, but it's definitely worthwhile learning and it's very useful on FI sweaters (if you're not doing a yoke-style sweater). I can't imagine myself knitting a FI pattern back and forth.

I also posted a thread about the blocking of this project HERE (http://www.knittinghelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89607), it has some "before" and "after" photos:thumbsup: I hope that people will find it useful.

What a beautiful vest!! Very nice work on the Fair Isle. Thanks for the close up of the fabric. When I made it get large I could see the flecks of tweediness you were talking about. The yarn looks just wonderful. It looks great on you. Gorgeous ribbing at neck and waist.
