I was inspired by Slim and Marg to make one of these slouch berets
with the 'leftover-from-BETTNA' yarn. Crystal Palace TAOS, color 20:

When I took the beret off the needles, the stitch work was all wrinkly.
It certainly needed blocking!

How to block a beret? Hmmm.

Well, I dragged out round shaped 15" serving platter, turned it bottom side up...and put my beret over the bottom of the platter! Misted the tar out of it, left it overnight, removed the platter this morning. It didn't stretch out the ribbing! WhooHoo.

I'm letting the beret dry a bit more, by itself, on top of some towels that are on top of my SYLVI back. They're still just a bit damp.

The whole mess can 'cure' together for another day or two!

The platter:

With the platter, bottomside up, inside the beret:

Off the platter this morning!

Gorgeous!! :yay: I wasn't sure how it would turn out with variegated yarn (why I bought the solid) but seeing yours I would definitely try it!!

BTW, I used a plate to block mine as well.....I think Slim did too

I love it. I also love reading about anything to do with blocking - I'm getting the hang of how and why on that. The beret is very nice.

Ooh, I love it! Great choice on the yarn -- I love the way the color changes seem to highlight the lace pattern.

Beautiful! Love the colours so much and the pattern.... also enjoyed the way you solved your 'blocking' problem. It always pays to think outside the box....:woohoo:

Hey, that turned out very trippy. I love the way the yarn made stripes round and round, and the white zig-zags. Very nice hat. I'd wear that. :-)

It's gorgeous !! This may be the perfect hat for my mother ... she is recovering from chemo and needs a hat to wear when she doesn't want to wear her wig.
