FO: PRINCESS PONCHOS for my DGD's

I made 3 of these ponchos in 3 days. They knit up fast!
These are the first 2, for Fiona and Celeste.

I modified the collar. I made a rolled collar for 8 rows; then an eyelet row; the 2 knit rows; then the increase rows; then the lace rows.

Threaded a satin ribbon through the eyelets to help
the mother's tighten the collar if they so choose:

However, I modified it to fit older girls, not just toddlers.

YARN: Needful Arts Geranium, color 6050 Strawberries 'n Cream. On sale at Elann for $16.75 per bag of 10.

I used 5.5 sk on the larger poncho, and 4.5 sk for the smaller ponchos.
Yarn is 104 yds per sk.

The large poncho is 22" and the smaller ponchos are 17".

The second half is K2T-yo-K1 all the way round.

Finally, when the lacey 'skirt' is about the length you want the pattern says to inc 1 st in every st all the way around (K1f&b), which doubles the st count. Knit a few more rows or inches, and bind off. For the last 2 rows I increased my needle from a 15 to a 17!

A more rufflier ruffle: on row 1 of ruffle, I increased 1 in each stitch (k1f&b) plus M1 inbetween each stitch. Phew. With a US17 needle!

You got closer to your goal of 5 before you burned out than I could have done. Congratulations on 4!

Everytime I look at that lace work at the bottom in that yarn I am reminded of a dress my grandmother crocheted for me when I was a baby. It was a blue/white variegated thread and had the same feel as what you got on this.
