I recently made this for my cousin's son, named Derek for the Yankee's player, as a test for something I want to make for my own son (as my mother has turned him into a Yankee fanatic as well!).
This is actually the first time I ever tried crocheting on top of something knit, so it didn't turn out as well as I'd like, but I did figure out what I'm doing in the end!
The body was knitted with three strands using size 19 needles (I LOVE these needles! Everything moves so quickly!). I then crocheted the edging, and then crocheted on top of the knitted area to make the (sort of!) Yankees logo.
Apparently, Derek is too young to notice my imperfections. My cousin informs me that when she opened the box, his reaction was, "Yankees!" :p
