Adriene scarf, am I reading this chart right?

I don't get charts, reading them does not come naturally to me. Can someone who's on Ravelry check out this pattern:

and tell me if this is the correct "translation" for row 2 (2nd row from the bottom... is that how you read it? Left to right, bottom row to top?). The black spaces (skip this stitch) have me confused.

R2: k2, p2, p2tog, p1, k1, p2tog, p2tog, p1, k1, p2tog, p2tog, p1, k1, p2tog, k2

Is that how I would knit that row? Thank you!

The black squares are just place holders. You just ignore them as if they don't exist, because, well, they don't. They're there to keep the chart's shape.

The second row would read from left to right, as

K2, p2tog, p, k, (p2tog)x2, p, k, (p2tog)x2, p, k, p2tog, k2
