I have a bit of nice Pakucho cotton yarn that I'd love to make into a sunhat for my large 14 month old son. I can find very few sunhat patterns and they're all for girls. I'm thinking just a simple brim hat that will be green and brown striped. I'd even try sort of winging it if I knew the general idea for how to shape a brim. Is this a concept that just doesn't work, and that's why I don't see patterns? Or is there a pattern out there for a simple brim sunhat?

Thanks,
Kate

If you didn't curl the edge quite so much this one would be cute on a boy.

Here's a one you might be able to adapt.

I was thinking though that cast on a few inches more than you normally would then decrease to head size, knit till it's tall enough then create a flat top it would be sort of like a fishing hat. Kind of like this -

Excellent, thanks Jan! I really like the wordpress pattern, and it even has instructions for how to adapt the size. If I can figure out how to get rid of the ruffles I will, but even if I can't the hat won't be too girly since he's just a baby and it'll be in boyish colors.

Oh good! You could do a band of color after the brim so it'll look like a fishing hat, too.

I can't wait to see it! :yay:
