Maizie (:muah:) helped me find this pattern for the A Real Stocking Cap (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEwinter05/PATTstockingcap.html) after Ladybug requested a "Hedgie Hat". At that time her favorite book was Jan Brett's The Hat (http://www.amazon.com/Hat-Jan-Brett/dp/0399231013/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243818934&sr=1-1) and she requested a hat like Hedgie. She chose a "hedgie" colored yarn for her hat, but it came out too big and her big brother got to have it. The reason it was too big is I didn't like the effect I was getting from the pattern & decided to do stockinette stitch for the body of the hat after the K2P2 ribbing.
I chose purple for the second attempt & was happier with the results. Still not happy with the pattern, I chose to do the adult K4, P1 pattern for the child size after K2P2 ribbing.
The acrylic is too warm for here so I'm currently working on two new versions using cotton yarn (Sugar & Cream, but am going to look for Cotton Tot type to use instead).

Ladybug wearing first attempt using Vanna's Choice in taupe

Second attempt went much faster and I used Vanna's Choice in purple mist
Thanks for looking!
