View Full Version : Progress on my Botanica Medallion Cardigan

Okay, I made it through the medallion portion. I'm fairly new to lace so this was interesting for me. I only messed up on one round - round 52 and ended up tinking and knitting and tinking and knitting and then getting help and tinking and knitting before I could move on. In this picture, it's blocking.

Thanks! It was actually a yarn I got from WEBS' Garage Sale - it was the only color in a cotton yarn that was super cheap - so I bought it for this cardi! I thought I might hate it after knitting it for a while, but I'm actually loving the color!

Love Love Love it!! The colour is wonderful. I am going to knit this if the Vogue mag I ordered a month or so ago ever turns up. Was supposed to be the middle of May, but no show yet.

Great job with the lace, you'd never know you're fairly new to it. Look forward to seeing the finished cardigan.

Ooooo la la! This is gonna be great! I love this pattern, and I can hardly wait to hear what you think of it, how clear the directions are, any errors, etc!

Keep us posted on all your progress steps, ok?

Lookin' good so far!

Personally, I'm pretty disappointed that the pattern has so many errors. Infact, there are more errors than are listed in the errata. Also, there are some stitches: Indian St, SK2P, 4-RC, 4-LC that could've been quickly explained in a key on the pattern. No such key is listed in Vogue. It wasn't hard to google the info for the stitches of which I was unfamiliar, but it still would've been nice to have a key with the pattern.

I am just beginning the the outer ring and have frogged a couple of times because you really need to count and the kidlets have other plans for me ;P Also, if knitting this pattern, I suggest that you knit the outer ring on straight needles (I'm a circs junkie myself). Fortunately, I am knitting this with a group of ladies and I've gotten feedback from some of the faster knitters that straight needles are a must for the outer ring (I concur) and learning to cable without a cable needle is also handy and faster.

Thanks for the heads-up about the multitude of pattern errors! I might wait for a year to knit this one!
Let all the errors show up first!
